'When I first moved to New York, I bought Vogue instead of dinner'
Carrie Bradshaw
My ideas of New York City was like every other teenage girl before actually visiting it : cosmopolitan, glamorous, urban, architectural (I think you can see where I'm heading here) and I'm not going to lie, after coming back from New York, I realised that it was probably the only place that hadn't changed my perception of the place pre-visiting it. I would say that it was definitely an enlightening experience and for me, New York definitely ticks the box of being one of my top 5 favourite places in the world. Being a Londoner means that yes, in a sense, some could say that I'm used to the busyness and crowded atmosphere of living in such an urban city, but nothing could have prepared me for what I experienced in New York.

Since this was my first time visiting the States, I never knew what to expect; by visiting NYC, it was like being thrown in the deep end. Literally - I mean, the skyscrapers looked like sharks to me. In a way, being surrounded by such tall architectural handsomeness gave me the scope to broaden my mind architecturally; the Empire State is worth the hype - trust me.
Given the fact that I only spent a week in New York meant that I had to cram in a lot of activities that people usually spend doing over a period of at least two weeks. For me my main priority was SHOPPING! I have spent my whole life wondering about the famous designer boutiques in New York, and whether they're actually like the ones in the movies; I imagined myself playing the role of Miranda Priestley from 'The Devil Wears Prada', strutting from each store in my Louboutins and having my own personal stylist, but by stepping in Manhattan, trust me when I say that those are not the vibes that you get. As beautiful as everything is, it's crazy, it's buzzing and it’s absolutely nuts!
The first few days in Manhattan were spent sight-seeing as normal tourists do, and this included visiting the Empire State building, which, like I said earlier, is actually pretty cool. However, due to my daft and rash decisions, I went to the Empire State building a couple of hours before sunset, hence, I didn't manage to actually get any good shots. Saying that though, one lucky lady who was on the tour got proposed to, hence, for at least ten minutes, all the tourists gathered around the couple (myself included) to get a glimpse of the ring, though at first, nobody quite knew what was going on until a plane flew on top of us and quoted: 'Will you marry me?'. This is why I love America; everything is so spontaneous!
