'Skin care is so much more important than make-up. Make-up is for when you're having fun and going out. But your skin is forever' - Halima Aden
I believe skin to be the most important thing to look after; for me, make-up is secondary. But with skin comes many stages; it's easy to say that all you need to do is moisturise your skin but that's not true. In order for your make-up to appear flawless and natural, your base needs to be literally flawless. For many, that sounds crazy and in all honesty, I agree with you, it seems impossible to do but practice does bear some fruits. My skin story is not all juicy and dramatic but it's fair to say that I have definitely come far from being the girl with the spotty forehead and oily face. When I was a child, I never cared about my skin and even though my mother would invest in expensive skin care products for me, I could never be bothered to use any of it. Eventually though, this thing called social media made me want to change the way I looked ; I would see all these celebrities with such amazing skin and that was when I decided that I wanted my skin to look like theirs. I'm not trying to say that my skin is gleaming like Rosie Huntington Whiteley's , but (I don't want to toot my own horn here) I would say that we're kind of getting there. So yes, unfortunately I was a victim of social media, but I think if you look on the bright side, at least my skin improved :)

My morning routine is pretty similar to my evening routine but mind, you do have to wake up earlier to make sure that you go through all the stages properly.
Morning Routine:
1, Exfoliate the skin with the Bodyshop Vitamin C Daily Polisher
2, Tone and cleanse the face with the Bodyshop Vitamin E Toner/ Pixi Glow Tonic (I alternate between these two toners)
3, Hydrate with a few drops of hyaluronic acid from The Ordinary
4, Moisturise and hydrate with the Bodyshop Vitamin E moisturiser (I promise this is not sponsored by the Body Shop lol)
5, Apply 3 dots of the Estée Lauder Revitalising Supreme + eye cream/ Bodyshop Vitamin E eye cream with your ring finger on your under-eyes
6, Apply one pump of the La Roche Posay SPF/ Murad Essential-C Day Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30 (I usually alternate between these two products as well; usually I'll use the La Roche Posay SPF in the winter because it can be quite dewy and the Murad SPF in the summer so that it doesn't make the skin look too greasy)
7, Moisturise the lips with some Vaseline (I find that nothing is honestly better than some good old Vaseline)
8, Spray and hydrate with the Clinique face mist
I've been using the Bodyshop Vitamin C Daily Polisher for quite some time now and I've seen such a huge difference with my skin. Usually, you're not supposed to exfoliate so much and especially not on a daily basis, but I used to have oily skin and the one thing I wanted more than anything was to reduce the oiliness so I would exfoliate everyday for two years and it's fair to say that I no longer have excessively oily skin yay :) Another product that I've loved for a long time is the Bodyshop Vitamin E toner, which also happens to be one of the Bodyshop's best-sellers. You must be wondering why I love the Bodyshop products so much; well, let me enlighten you lovely readers. Firstly, the Bodyshop uses organic and vegan ingredients which I absolutely love because the last thing you want is to apply harsh chemicals and bleaches to your skin. Also, I've noticed a massive difference in my skin after using these products for a long period of time so it actually is worth it.
If you're just not a morning person and refuse to wake up early to look after your skin, then the absolute minimum is to wear SPF because trust me when I say that SPF is AS important as drinking water. Your skin is always being exposed to sunlight whether it be summer or winter, so you need to make sure that you're wearing SPF literally ALL the time.
Evening Routine:
1, Exfoliate with the Bodyshop Vitamin C Daily Polisher
2, Tone and cleanse the face with the Bodyshop Vitamin E Toner/ Pixi Glow Tonic
3, Apply a few drops of the Vitamin C serum from Timeless
4, Moisturise and hydrate with the Bodyshop Vitamin E moisturiser
5, Apply 3 dots of the Estée Lauder Revitalising Supreme + eye cream/ Bodyshop Vitamin E eye cream with your ring finger on your under-eyes
6, Moisturise the lips with some Vaseline (I find that nothing is honestly better than some good old Vaseline)
7, Apply 2-3 drops of the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate (warm the solution in your hands first because the serum is too concentrated to put directly onto the skin and then pat around the face)
8, At least once a week, I'll usually apply a face mask as the last step before going to bed, but if I do, I'll usually skip out steps 3,5 and 6.
That pretty much sums up my skin routine; it's not 37 steps long or anything but it's important to have a regimented skin routine because skin is everything! Keep at least 20 minutes of your day to work on your skin routine and trust me, you WILL see a difference.
